Comparative Study of Aortic Wall Stress According to Geometric Parameters in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

چکیده

In abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), the rupture of tissue is directly related to wall stress. Thus, investigation maximum stress a necessary procedure predict in AAA. this study, computational simulations were performed investigate correlation between peak (PWS) and AAA geometry. The Holzapfel model various orientations collagen fibers thicknesses layers aorta employed simulation. material constants used estimated from examination analysis biaxial tensile test results normal diameter, height, neck angle, iliac angle selected as geometric factors affecting rupture. addition, simulation scenario was conceived created based on measurement using computed tomography data patients with Accordingly, PWS geometry estimated.

Geometric Predictors of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Maximum Wall Stress.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a dilation of the abdominal aorta (above 50 % of its original diameter), which can cause death upon rupturing. It usually grows asymptomatically leading to late clinical intervention. The medical criteria to indicate surgery are based on measuring the diameter and growth rate, but in many cases aneurysms fail at uncharacterized critical values. In search of a ...

The role of geometric parameters in the prediction of abdominal aortic aneurysm wall stress.

OBJECTIVE To study the correlation between peak wall stress (PWS) and abdominal aorta aneurysm (AAA) geometric parameters in the presence of intraluminal thrombus (ILT). DESIGN Computational study using finite element analysis. MATERIAL AAA models were created by three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of in vivo acquired computed tomography (CT) images from 19 patients. METHODS PWS was eva...

Mechanical and geometrical determinants of wall stress in abdominal aortic aneurysms: A computational study

An aortic aneurysm (AA) is a focal dilatation of the aortic wall. Occurrence of AA rupture is an all too common event that is associated with high levels of patient morbidity and mortality. The decision to surgically intervene prior to AA rupture is made with recognition of significant procedural risks, and is primarily based on the maximal diameter and/or growth rate of the AA. Despite establi...

Strain analysis of wall motion in abdominal aortic aneurysms.

OBJECTIVE In this exploratory study, we used ultrasound speckle-tracking methods, originally used for analyzing cardiac wall motion, to evaluate aortic wall motion. MATERIALS AND METHODS We compared 19 abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) patients with 10 healthy volunteers (diameter, 48 mm vs. 15 mm). Motion pictures of the axial view of the aneurysm using ultrasonography were analyzed. Circumfer...

Abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Aneurysms are common in our increasingly elderly population, and are a major threat to life and limb. Until the advent of vascular reconstructive techniques, aneurysm patients were subject to an overwhelming risk of death from exsanguination. The first successful repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm using an interposed arterial homograft was reported by Dubost in 1952. A milestone in the evol...
